Chess Club meets every Thursday from 4 to 5pm in room 307. In addition to teaching students how to play, Class A Rated Chess Coach Mr. Polomsky (USCF Rated 1843) offers $100 to any current Ross Sterling Student that beats him. So far, Mr. Polomsky has never been beaten in his 3 years at Ross Sterling Middle. This club averages between 22 and 35 students in attendance each week. So whether you are brand new or an experienced Player, come on down and play.
For those of you ready to take your game to the next level, Mr. Polomsky runs a local club in the Kingwood Area as well. This Club meets every Thursday from 7:30-10pm at the YMCA in Kingwood off of West Lake Houston Parkway. Club is open to both kids and adults, but it is a little late for the young kiddos to be out.
Additionally, if you would like to be a part of the National Scene. Check out The United States Chess Federation (USCF). For only $25 a year, students can join, get a monthly magazine, and be eligible to play in Local, State, and National Tournaments. The website is
