Kingwood High School is a Class Five-A comprehensive high school. Teachers, counselors, and administrators offer an individualized approach to learning and development. KHS is fully accredited by the Texas Education Agency, and 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005 winner of the Lone Star Cup. Kingwood High School opened in 1978, and has completed the final phase of a two-year extreme renovation that reorganized the school into smaller learning communities, or houses, to personalize student learning.
CurriculumIn order to meet each student's needs, courses are offered at varying levels of instruction: College Preparation, Honors, and Advanced Placement. An English class for identified Gifted and Talented is offered at each grade level. Contemporary career and technical education courses prepare students for immediate employment or continuing education. A highly developed program for special education students is available.

Class Rank Rank is determined by adding all grade points earned in grades 9 through the fifth six weeks of the senior year. Transfer students receive credit for honors courses taken elsewhere if KHS offers that course as honors. Honors, advanced placement, and gifted/talented classes carry one grade point higher on the grading scale than level courses.
