    KUDOS & CONGRATULATIONS

    Silver Stars - Congratulations to all 19 Silver Stars who earned a Division I on their solo at the MA Texas Showdown.  In the Junior division Georgia Zeleskey was 2nd Runner-Up and Kyra Ivy was 1st Runner-Up.  In the 15-16 year old Division Kylie Belville placed 4th Runner-Up and Aryana White placed 2nd Runner-Up.  In the 17-18 year old division Kaylee Woest won 1st, Best Overall.  Hannah Richardson & Silver Houwari placed 1st Runner-Up with their duet.  The Military Officers won Super Sweepstakes, Choreography Awards for Lyrical, Open & Jazz and a Technique for Lyrical & Jazz.  Team won Super Sweepstakes, Choreography & Technique Awards for Contemporary, Jazz & Open.  They won the High Point Award in each category for all 3 dances and overall 1st Place, Best in Class for the X-Large Teams.  With all teams combined the team was placed in the Winner’s Circle and was overall 3rd out of the entire competition.  Congratulations and Best of Luck at State this weekend!

    Drumline – Congratulations to the Kingwood Park Indoor Percussion Ensemble for receiving 1ST PLACE out of 6 at this past weekend’s TCGC competition.  Wish them luck because they have another competition at Magnolia High School this Saturday. 

    ROTC – Congratulations to ROTC on their performance at the Cleveland High School Drill competition this past weekend.  KPark competed against some of the best drill teams in Texas and took Second Place in the Armed Exhibition category.  Great job cadets.

    Thank you to everyone who donated blood at the blood drive.  We donated about 71 units of blood that could each save 3 lives.  Go Kpark!!

    Girls Soccer:   The JV Lady Panthers defeated Porter 7-1 Friday night.

    Thank you to all those who were able to show up and support the ladies against Porter Friday night.

    The Lady Panthers soccer teams will travel to Dayton on Tuesday.

     Girls Wrestling:  Congratulations to our Varsity Lady Panther Wrestlers – they beat Bryan HS over the weekend!!  The Girls also won close matches on Saturday vs College Station and New Waverly. 

     Boys WrestlingThe Boys beat New Waverly and lost to College Station.

     Girls Basketball:  The women’s Freshman and JV squads beat Dayton!!   Congratulations!!

     Panther TennisVarsity tennis players competed in a 2 day HISD Invitational tournament in a field of 32 strong teams.  Belle Gonzalez and Holly McKinney placed third in Girls Doubles; Jacob Hitchcock/Josh Smith also placed third in Boys Doubles.

    COLOR GUARD NEWS

    On Thursday, January 26th, come out and support the Kingwood Park Indoor Color Guard!  They will be having its exhibition at 7:30 pm in the small gym.  This will be their first year ever competing against other groups across the state, so come cheer them on before their first contest on Saturday!!!

    KUDOS CORNER

    Girls Volleyball:  HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO HANNAH OVERMYER for being named to the 2016-17 All State Team!!!! WAY TO GO HANNAH!!!!

    Girls Basketball:  The women’s basketball team swept Crosby last night in exciting fashion.  Thank you to all who came out to support us.  The women’s basketball team will now face Dayton on Friday at home.  Come out and support these ladies as they work towards the playoffs!!

    Girls Swimming:  The KPark Lady Panthers have captured the 5A District 22 Swimming & Diving Championships winning all 11 events. 

    Alexis Baker was named District Swimmer of the Year winning the 100 fly in a NEW SCHOOL RECORD and also winning the 100 Breast.

    Andie Unwin won the 50 Free and 100 Free; Cammie Martin won the 200 Free and 500 Free; Kat Smith won the 200 IM; Emma Frey won the 100 Backstroke; Frey, Abby Bennett, Baker, and Unwin won the 200 Medley Relay; Unwin, Luisa Alcala, Baker and Hannah Mosier won the 200 Free Relay; and Frey, Sarah Crowe, Martin, and Mosier won the 400 Free Relay.

    The Lady Panthers are back in action on February 3rd and 4th at the 5A Region 6 Championships in Magnolia.

    CONGRATULATIONS GIRLS SWIMMING!!!!

    Girls Soccer:  The JV Lady Panthers Soccer Team scored early and often in beating Cy Springs 8-1 on Tuesday night.

    The Varsity Lady Panthers traveled to Barbers Hill and came away with a 1-1 tie on a goal by Hayden OverstreetTaylor DeBrosky assisted on the goal. 

    Both teams will host Porter in our only match against the Spartans this season on Friday night.  JV will play at 5pm followed by the Varsity at 7 pm.  Let’s fill up the stands for our first home game of the year !!!!!!!

    CRU NEWS

    On Saturday (January 28-29), CRU has its annual Fast Break retreat at Carolina Creek Camp!  All are welcome, and waivers are available for pickup.  Please turn in at Mr. Glenn Taylor’s room 2409.

    KPHS CHOIR NEWS – This weekend, members of the KPark Choir competed at Area Auditions at the Woodlands High School in the final round of TMEA Auditions.  This concludes a process that began over 5 months ago, and is the result of endless hours of practice, rehearsal, and performances.  Students who make this final audition will travel to San Antonio and perform with the Texas All State Choir in February.

     This year, Kingwood Park had 4 students participate in this audition, and we are extremely proud to report that ALL FOUR made it!  Members of the 2017 Texas All State Choir are:  Nina Arntsen, Emmelyn Nguyen; Carleigh Pollard and Helen Vassiliades (first chair in her section!)  Congratulations students!!! Way to go Singing Panthers!

     FFA NEWS…  This weekend, members of KPark FFA competed in the annual progress show.  Kpark FFA members were awarded 9 of 12 belt buckles for exhibiting outstanding animals.  A special congratulations to the following members for the success in the Progress show: Bailey Richter-Grand Champion Steer; Lindsey Adams-Champion Steer Showman; Olivia Blair-Grand Champion Pig; Jenna Rhodes-Reserve Champion Pig; Emily Margiolas-Grand Champion Lamb & Grand Lamb Showmanship; Uriah Ebow-Reserve Champion Lamb; Gracie Wishnewsky-Reserve Champion Goat; Adrian Terry-Champion Goat Showman.   Congratulations Panthers!!

    KPHS CHOIR & ORCHESTRA –The Kingwood Park Chamber Orchestra and Madrigal Singers are proud to present a Christmas concert entitled: Lessons & Carols! Tickets are $7 – you can purchase a ticket from any Chamber Orchestra or Madrigal Singers member.  The concert is this Sunday at 4 pm at Kingwood Christian Church.

    ORCHESTRA NEWS … Orchestra concert this Thursday at 7:00 pm.  The dinosaurs never attended an orchestra concert and now they are extinct.  You don’t want that to happen to you, right?

    ROTC NEWS … Congratulations Kpark ROTC for taking 2nd place at the New Caney Military Skills Competition this past weekend.  The unit placed in Drill, Color Guard, Physical Fitness, Academics and the Ranger Rifle Swim Relay where they shattered their previous record.  Payton Magee and Shelby Teal took top commander awards while Courtney Paulson and Guillermo Villanueva took individual honors in physical fitness.  Great job Cadets!

    KEY CLUB NEWS … Key Club is selling Christmas candy grams for a $1.  They are available for purchase Monday through Friday.  Grams will be sold at all lunches.  Let’s spread some Christmas cheer!!

    FFA NEWS…  Kpark FFA Booster Club will be holding a 5K run on December 10th at the Kpark AG barns.  There will be awards given in 4 age groups for both male and female runners.  You can register at runsignup.com and just search Run Like an Animal.  You can also go to the FFA school web page and click on the link to the booster club for more information or stop by to see Mr. McCarty.

    BAND NEWS & KUDOS – After a very long weekend of competition we are very pleased to announce that it has been another record breaking year for the Kingwood Park Band program.

    After auditions this last weekend we have 12 students that have dominated the Region 33 5A competition and are advancing on to Area contests in January.

The KPHS Choir presents its Winter Concert!  It’s the perfect way to start the holiday season, and will feature traditional carols as well as some newer classics.  And don’t forget the sing-along portion at the end, because THE ONLY WAY TO SPREAD CHRISTMAS CHEER IS SINGING LOUDLY FOR ALL TO HEAR!!  Admission is free!  Tonight!! 7pm!!

    BEST BUDDIES – This Friday, December 2nd our Kpark Best Buddies will battle the Mustangs in our annual Best Buddies Basketball game @ 6pm.  Your t-shirt is your ticket into the game and it is only $5.  The shirts are going to be sold @ all lunches and at the front desk with Ms. Daspit.  Then…..head on over to the next event…..Santa Farm!

    KUDOS AND CONGRATULATIONS

    Varsity Tennis – Congratulations to our DISTRICT CHAMPION Varsity Tennis Team with our Area Playoff runner up finish.  We will be heading to the Regional Championships for the 10th year in KPark history.  Regionals will take place on Thursday and Friday of this week. Go PANTHER TENNIS!!!

    KPHS Choir – Members of the Choir participated in Region Auditions last night at Atascocita High School.  ALL 18 students competing made the Region Choir, and of those, 11 will perform with the Region Mixed Choir and move on to the next round in All-State competition.

    Students moving on to the Pre-Area round of competition are: Nina Arntsen, Victoria Becker, Lindsey Ferris, Megan Hanebuth, Kristen Meaux, Emmelyn Nguyen, Rhiannon O’Brien, Roguen O’Brien, Carleigh Pollock, Webb Rosson, and Hlene Vassiliades.

    Choir News - The Kingwood Park High School Choir presents “Cabaret”, an evening of Pop and Broadway solos and small ensembles in the Black Box Theatre on Friday, October 14th at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $5 and there will be a small reception after the show. All proceeds benefit KPark Choir Scholarships. Tickets are available in the Choir Room.

    Varsity Tennis – Congratulations to our Varsity Tennis Team with its win over Splendora on Friday – 19 matches to 0. We finished district play with a record of 9-0. We are the 2016 21-5A DISTRICT CHAMPIONS!!! We head into the Area Playoffs next Tuesday against Port Arthur Memorial. Way to go District Champions Panther Tennis!

    ROTC – Congratulations to the ROTC Armed Exhibition Drill team for placing 3rd at the Oak Ridge Drill competition this past weekend. Great job cadets!

    Academic & Debate - Congratulations to the Kingwood Park Debate team who took the First Overall Sweepstakes award at Saturday's tournament at West Hardin High School, defeating 15 area high schools including rivals New Caney and Dayton. Way to go Panthers!

    Choir News  - The Kingwood Park High School Choir presents its annual Fall Concert on Thursday, October 6th at 7:30 pm in the Performing Arts Center.  The choirs will be performing pieces that mock vanity, discuss a love of pirate culture, and display a wide array of nasal sound effects.  Admission is free.

    NHS ~ NHS is having its Fall Leadership Conference this Wednesday, October 5th from 3:00-5:30 pm in the Cafeteria and Saturday, October 8th from 8:30-11:00 am in the Upper LGI.  Members and prospective members are encouraged to come and will receive a leadership point, but it welcomes all  KPHS students.  Come! It’s fun!

    NHS ~ Pink out shirts are in and will be sold during lunch for $15.  Stop by and buy one.  Wear your pink on October 11 and October 13th!!

    ~ STUDENT COUNCIL ~ Hey Panthers, bring in your old children's books or chapter books for a local woman's shelter. Your English teacher will have a collection box and more details in their classrooms. There are also collection cans in the office and library. We cannot wait to see all of the books, but hurry because the book drive ends this Friday, September 16.

    ~ ROTC ~ Hey Panthers, did you know that this week marks the 69th birthday of the United States Air Force? That's right, on September 18th, 1947, President Truman signed the National Security Act, establishing the Air Force as its own service. To celebrate, ROTC will be serving birthday cake tomorrow after schoolin the cafeteria. Come over and join the join!

    ~ DRAMA CLUB ~ Come one, come all! The Drama Club is hosting its first movie night of the year on Friday, September 23rd at 7:00 pm in the Performing Arts Center. AVENGERS will be featured. Tickets are $3 and come with popcorn. Concessions will also be for sale during the event. The organization also welcomes bringing pillows and blankets.
