The Humble I.S.D. Child Nutrition Services Department is one of the largest support services departments in the school district with over 350 employees.  Each of the 40 schools has self operated cafeteria that prepares breakfast and lunch for students, staff and guests.  Over 5 million meals were served during the 2010-2011 school year.
 
The Child Nutrition Services Department operates under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program.  These programs are administered by the United States Department of Agriculture on a federal level and by the Texas Department of Agriculture on the state level.
The CNS department follows federal meal requirements and provides free or reduced-price meals to eligible students.  In addition, it adheres to the Texas Public School Nutrition Policy. 
 
The Child Nutrition Services Department is a self-funded program, earning revenue and paying all department expenses.  The department does not receive funds from local property taxes.  The annual CNS budget is approximately $14 million
