Atascocita Lacrosse is a starter club team but their team is a force to be reckoned with. In Spring of 2014 several Atascocita High School students started Atascocita Lax, a club lacrosse team for Atascocita High School students. The club started with about 15 students. Since then the club has started a middle school team, hired a new lacrosse coach, and has tripled in size.

Kingwood Park High School senior Emily Callens was awarded Grand Champion for her 3-D sculpture at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Contest. The 3-D sculpture sold for $88,000 at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Auction.
The Tommy Tune Awards are an annual competition developed by TUTS (Theatre Under the Stars), to honor musical theatre excellence at the high school level.

Humble ISD Council of PTAs traveled to Austin for PTA Rally Day on Feb. 27. They joined PTAs across the state to discuss education matters with legislators. While in Austin they were also able to meet with former Superintendent Dr. Guy Sconzo and Representative Senfronia Thompson.

For the first time, KPHS auto collision students are following I-CAR’s new Professional Development Program- Education Edition (PDP-EE). In fall of 2016 Woodcreek Middle School became the pilot campus for Kickstart Kids in Humble Independent School District. The program is offered to students as a physical education credit and elective. Recently the students received their gold belts at the Woodcreek Middle Winter Belt Ceremony.

For 13 years, the Humble High School Veterans Day Salute has commemorated military veterans for their service and sacrifice. On display is a replication of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which serves as a memorial to service members who have paid the ultimate sacrifice and remain unknown.

The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) has selected Humble ISD Trustee Nancy Morrison to the Leadership TASB Class of 2017. She joins 34 school board leaders from across the state based upon a written application for the yearlong leadership program.

In September, Woodland Hills Elementary fifth-grader Grace Cardenas was in a bike accident while riding her brand new bike home from school. Her fifth grade classmates wanted to know how they could help and Chores for Grace was created.

The Humble ISD School Board completed bond transactions in August to reduce the district’s debt and save taxpayer dollars.
