Timberwood Middle School Celebrates Library Renovation

TMS-Library-2016

After a year of fundraising the school has been able to give their library a facelift. They have taken the traditional library setup and mixed it with new contemporary furniture. It has taken the library from old school to new cool.

TMS Librarian Sue White said, “I hope the new look will capture the students attention but I also hope reading will capture their hearts.”

Ms. White hopes the updated look will bring more students in the library whether it is to check out a book, read on their Kindles or just to stop by for a quick visit.

“I want the students to be excited to visit the library. Students should be able to mature in this space and now our library no longer feels like a middle school library but a high school or college library,” said Ms. White.

The campus is also starting a campus wide reading initiative with the mystery novel “FRAMED!” by James Ponti. All students on campus will get the opportunity to read one book together.

Next year the school hopes to continue their library renovation and purchase new books and replace their older ones.

The library not only serves as a place for checking out books and research for students but it is a place for testing and campus celebrations. With new murals, furniture and a 21st-century look the TMS library will be very busy this year.
