Humble ISD was presented with the 2016 Outstanding Partner James H. Galloway Award from the YMCA of Greater Houston during the YMCA’s Community Impact Luncheon, which featured Houston Texans President Jamey Rootes as keynote speaker. Humble ISD was recognized for partnering with the YMCA to build an Adaptive Sports Complex. The complex–which features two fields specifically designed for wheelchairs and walkers–will allow children of all abilities to enjoy sports. The complex will also include a playground designed for children with disabilities to climb and play alongside their siblings and friends. It will be located between Humble ISD’s new elementary school and new middle school, which are under construction in The Groves. To date, $4 million had been raised for the facility.
