A Permanent Building for the Mosaic Program
On Friday, October 4, Humble ISD broke ground on a new, unique facility for its Mosaic program, designed to support young adults with disabilities. Mosaic Groundbreaking article
The new building will serve students ages 18-22 who received special education services and qualify for educational services after high school to transition to adult life. Currently housed in portable buildings, Mosaic will soon have a permanent home off of Timber Forest Dr. behind the Community Learning Center, thanks to funding approved by voters in Bond 2022.
The new 56,600-square-foot Mosaic building will be 2-stories and will open in November 2025. The second floor will be office space for more than 60 special education professionals who serve students at schools through the district. The first floor will house the Mosaic program and include mock apartments, an outdoor learning environment with a garden, several types of classrooms, and a new production lab - all designed to focus on developing and enhancing employability and independent living skills.
