Conway Taylor

Conway A. Taylor

Conway A. Taylor was born on April 11, 1868.  He worked in Humble as a lumber salesman.

Conway A. Taylor served on the Humble ISD School Board two different times. The first time he served for 2 years when the district was created. He was elected to Position 5 on May 29, 1919 and served through May 21, 1921.

The second time he served for 7 years. He was elected to Position 2 on April 6, 1925 and served continuously through November 8, 1932.

On the School Board, he served as:

  • Board President
      April 1930 - April 1931
      April 1931 - April 1932

Conway A. Taylor died on June 3, 1933.

Olcy Paul Thames

Olcy Paul Thames

Olcy Paul Thames was born on January 26, 1922 in West Columbia, Texas. He was the owner of Thames Variety Store.

Paul Thames served on the Humble ISD School Board three different times for a total of 13 years.  He first served for 4 years, having started on May 4, 1954 and served continuously in Position 2 until February 2, 1958. He resigned so that a relative could be hired by the board to work at the schools.  His unexpired term was filled by Kelly Leon Haws.

He served a second time for 8 years, starting August 15, 1961 when he was appointed to complete the unexpired term of Kelly Leon Haws in Position 2.  He served through April 8, 1969.

He served a third and final time for one year, starting on June 10, 1969, when he was appointed to complete the unexpired term of Fred D. McClure in Position 4.  He served until April 8, 1970.

On the School Board, he served as:

  • Secretary
      May 1955 - May 1956
      April 1962 - April 1963

He was a member of the Humble Chamber of Commerce, the Humble Junior Baseball Association, and the American Legion.

Olcy Paul Thames died on August 23, 1987.

H. Tharp

H. Tharp served on the School Board for Harris County Common School District No. 28, which was one of the predecessors to the Humble Independent School District.

He served on the School Board for Harris County Common School District No. 28 for 1 year, from June 1, 1895 through 1896.

John Harris Tooke

John Harris Tooke was born October 31, 1884.  John and his brother Ray ran Tooke's Drug Store in Humble for 47 years, from 1916 through 1963.

John H. Tooke served on the Humble ISD School Board in Position 1 for 3 years. He was elected on April 7, 1942 and served continuously through May 5, 1945.

John Harris Tooke died on April 28, 1969.

Nick Trahan

Nick Trahan served on the School Board for Harris County Common School District No. 28, which was one of the predecessors to the Humble Independent School District.

He served on the School Board for Harris County Common School District No. 28 for 1 year, from 1885 to 1886.

Wilber Moore Treadwell

Wilber Moore Treadwell

Wilber Moore Treadwell was born October 11, 1900 in Mississippi.  He was the owner of Treadwell's Tailor Shop.

W. M. Treadwell served on the Humble ISD School Board in Position 6 for 6 years, having been elected on April 11, 1935 and serving continuously until April 8, 1941.

Wilber Moore Treadwell died on August 5, 1971 in Humble, Texas.

Preston F. Tullos

Preston F. Tullos

Preston F. Tullos was born on January 25, 1910.  He served on the Humble ISD School Board for 2 years. He was elected to Position 1 on May 8, 1951 and serving continuously until August 4, 1953.

 

On the School Board, he served as:

  • Vice-President
      05/1952 – 05/1953

Preston F. Tullos later served as the Mayor of Humble for 2 terms, from 1963 to 1965 and from 1965 to 1967. He died on April 23, 1988.

Lori Twomey

Lori Twomey

Lori Twomey is a lawyer, special needs advocate, and former law professor. Mrs. Twomey graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Journalism and Broadcasting with a specialization in Advertising. She obtained her law degree from the University of Houston Law Center.  Mrs. Twomey spent 10 years as a law professor, where she taught courses on legal research and writing, contract and legislative drafting and interpretation, and Texas civil procedure.  

Mrs. Twomey was elected to Position 6 on May 4, 2019.

On the School Board, she has served as:

  • Secretary
      June 2021 - present

  • Parliamentarian
      June 2020 - June 2021

Mrs. Twomey has served on the Advocacy Committee and the Audit Committee. She has been on the Kingwood Super Neighborhood Council Representative and alternate for the TASB Delegate Annual Meeting.

Walter William Watt

Walter William Watt

Walter William Watt was born March 21, 1913.  He worked all over the world for a drilling company.

Walter Watt served on the Humble ISD School Board for 2 years, having been elected on April 5, 1949 and serving continuously until May 8, 1951.

On the School Board, he served as:

      May 1950 – May 1951

Walter William Watt died on May 19, 1958.

Ed Watts

Ed Watts served on the School Board for Harris County Common School District No. 35, which was one of the predecessors to the Humble Independent School District.

He served on the School Board for Harris County Common School District No. 35 for 1 year, from 1914 through 1915.

Claude Chapley Wellborn, Sr.

Claude Chapley Wellborn, Sr.

Claude Chapley Wellborn, Sr. was born on October 5, 1882. Mr. Wellborn served on the Humble ISD School Board two different times for a total of 2 1/2 years.

For the first time, he served for 1 year. He was elected to Position 1 on June 4, 1923 and served through April 7, 1924.

For the second time he served for a year and a half. He was appointed to fill the unexpired term of H. K. Pursley in Position 4 on November 7, 1930, and the re-elected to that seat on April 3, 1931, and again om April 2, 1932. He resigned on June 7, 1932, before the end of his term.

On the School Board, he served as:

C. C. Wellborn, Sr. died on July 27, 1949.

Tommy Louis Whitaker

Tommy Louis Whitaker was born August 17, 1911.

He served on the Humble ISD School Board for 3 years, having been elected to Position 6 on April 8, 1947 and serving continuously until May 10, 1950.

Dee George Wiederhold

Dee George Wiederhold

Dee Wiederhold was born June 28, 1901.  He served on the Humble ISD School Board for 3 years, having started in Position 7 on April 8, 1947 and served continuously until May 10, 1950.

On the School Board, he served as:

      May 1949 – May 1950

Dee Widerhold died February 12, 1991.

B. F. Williams

B. F. Williams served on the School Board for Harris County Common School District No. 28, which was one of the predecessors to the Humble Independent School District.

He served on the School Board for Harris County Common School District No. 28 for 1 year, from 1885 to 1886.

His son, W. W. Williams, also served on the school board from 1907 to 1909, and again from 1912 to 1918.

William Willis Williams

William Willis Williams

William Willis Williams was born September 9, 1873.  He worked various professions over his lifetime. Mr. Williams worked for the Bradford Hicks Lumber Company as an estimator, as a land-man for various oil companies, and as a cattleman.

W. W. Williams served on the School Board for District No. 35 two different times. He first served on the District No. 35 School Board from April 13, 1907 through April 3, 1909.

He then served a second time on the District No. 35 School Board from 1912 through 1918, when it was combined with District No. 28 to create District No. 50.

Later, after District No. 50 was transformed into the Humble Independent School District, he served on the Humble ISD School Board for 5 years. He was elected on June 4, 1923 and served continuously through April 6, 1929.

His father, B. F. Williams, also served on the school board for District No. 28 from 1885 to 1886.

W. W. Williams is a grandson of Joseph W. Dunman, who opened the first school in Humble, through his mother Martha Frances Dunman.

William Willis Williams died on February 12, 1947.

Thomas Lafayette Williamson

Thomas Lafayette Williamson

Thomas Lafayette Williamson was born December 24, 1877.  He moved to Humble with his wife and children in 1914. He worked as a driller, and later as a drilling rig foreman, for the Texas Company (which later became Texaco).

T. L. Williamson served on the Humble ISD School Board for 2 years. He was elected on June 4, 1923 and served through April 6, 1925.

On the School Board, he served as:

      June 1923 - April 1924

Thomas L. Williamson died on August 19, 1942.

Ann Willott

Ann Willott

Ann Willott served on the Humble ISD School Board for 12 years.  She was elected to Position 5 on February 11, 1992 and served through May 15, 2004.

On the School Board, she served as:

      May 2002 - May 2003

  • Vice-President
      January 1995 - January 1996
      May 2001 - May 2002

      January 1994 - January 1995
      May 2000 - May 2001

  • Parliamentarian
      May 1999 - May 2000

Ms. Willott has served as President of the Humble Council of PTAs.  She was the Leadership Development Chair of District 11 PTA and a sponsor of the Kingwood Women's Club Junior Alliance.  She also served on the Humble Area Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, and on the Community Awareness Rally for Education (CARE) steering committee.

Lester Arlington Winter

Lester Arlington Winter

Lester Arlington Winter was born on December 16, 1912. He was the manager of the Humble Funeral Home.

Mr. Winter served on the Humble ISD School Board for 6 years. He was elected to Position 3 on May 8, 1951 and serving continuously until May 7, 1957.

On the School Board, he served as:

      May 1956 – May 1957

  • Secretary
      May 1954 – May 1955

Lester Arlington Winter died on February 8, 1981.

William Zane Woodward

William Zane Woodward

William Zane Woodward was born on March 5, 1890.  He came to Moonshine Hill in 1911.  Initially he worked for the Texas Company (Texaco) as a roughneck and a warehouseman.  But he eventually went to work for the Hughes Tool Company, and then for the Harris County Tax office.

Mr. Woodward served on two school boards that were predecessors to the Humble Independent School District.

He served on the School Board for Harris County Common School District No. 28 from 1916 through 1918.

In 1918, when Districts No. 28 and No. 35 were combined to create District No. 50, Mr. Woodward served on the School Board for Harris County Common School District No. 50 from 1918 until February 1919, when District No. 50 was transformed into the Humble Independent School District.

The Woodward School at Moonshine Hill was named for his brother, Emerson Francis Woodward.

William Zane Woodward died on June 22, 1987.

Dr. Charles Albert Younts, Jr.

Dr. Charles Albert Younts, Jr.

Dr. Charles Albert Younts, Jr. was born November 17, 1920 in Temple, Texas.  He moved to Humble in 1951 and established a dental practice that served the citizens of Humble for over 32 years.  Dr. Younts served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1943-1946, and attended the University of Texas Dental College.

He served on the Humble ISD School Board for over 7 years. He was elected to Position 6 on April 4, 1967 and serving until October 8, 1974. 

On the School Board, he served as:

  • Board President
      April 1971 - April 1972

  • Vice-President
      April 1970 - April 1971

  • Secretary
      April 1969 - April 1970

He also served on the Humble City Council (1956-1964, 1975-1979, 1983-1985 and 1987-1989),  served one year as City Judge, and was the first recipient of the Hayden E. McKay Citizen of the Year award in1985.

Dr. C. A. Younts died on March 28, 2014.
