2025 Board Of Trustees Election
The Humble ISD Board of Trustees will hold a Board of Trustees Election on May 3, 2025. The following positions will serve four-year terms upon election:

First day to file for a place on the ballot: January 15, 2025
Last day to file for a place on the ballot: February 14, 2025 by 5:00 PM
**On Monday, January 20, 2025, all district offices are closed in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Applications on this day can be submitted by either email or fax.
Candidate application packets will be available on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. Applications can be submitted by email, fax, mail or in person. Applications submitted by mail are considered to be filed at the time of its receipt by the Elections Administrator.
It is the duty of the candidate to become familiar with the laws applicable to campaigns for public office. The duty of the District Elections Administrator is limited to accepting and filing the reports and noting the date received thereon.

Candidate Eligibility Requirements
An individual is eligible to be a candidate for, or elected or appointed to, a Texas school board if the individual:
is a United States citizen;
is 18 years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election or on the date of appointment, as applicable;
has not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote;
has not been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities;
has resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the territory from which the office is elected for six months immediately preceding the following date:
for an independent candidate, the date of the regular filing deadline for a candidate’s application for a place on the ballot;
for a write-in candidate, the date of the election at which the candidate’s name is written in; or
for an appointee to an office, the date the appointment is made;
is registered to vote in the territory from which the office is elected on the date described above; and
satisfies any other eligibility requirements prescribed by law for the office.
Tex. Elec. Code § 141.001.
The Texas Education Code imposes additional requirements:
To be elected to a school board, an individual must be a qualified voter: 18 years of age or older, a U.S citizen, a Texas resident, a registered voter, not determined to be totally or partially mentally incapacitated by an appropriate court, and not finally convicted of a felony. Tex. Educ. Code § 11.061; Tex. Elec. Code § 11.002.
A person is ineligible to serve on a school board if the person has been convicted of a felony or an offense under Texas Penal Code section 43.02(b) regarding prostitution. Tex. Educ. Code § 11.066.
Requisitos de Elegibilidad del Candidato
Un individuo es elegible para ser candidato, o ser elegido o designado, a una junta escolar de Texas si el individuo:
es Ciudadano de los Estados Unidos;
tiene 18 años de edad o más el primer día del término a ser llenado en la elección o en la fecha de nombramiento, según corresponda;
no ha sido determinado por una sentencia definitiva de un tribunal ejerciendo jurisdicción testamentaria como totalmente incapacitado mentalmente o parcialmente incapacitado mentalmente sin derecho a votar;
no ha sido condenado definitivamente por un delito grave del cual la persona no haya sido perdonada o liberada de las consecuentes incapacidades;
ha residido continuamente en el estado durante 12 meses y en el territorio del cual se elige el cargo durante seis meses inmediatamente anteriores a la siguiente fecha;
para un candidato independiente, la fecha límite regular de presentación de la solicitud de un candidato para un lugar en la papeleta;
para un candidato por escrito, la fecha de la elección en la cual se escribe el nombre del candidato; o
para un designado a un cargo, la fecha en que se hace el nombramiento;
está registrado para votar en el territorio del cual se elige el cargo en la fecha descrita anteriormente; y
cumple con cualquier otro requisito de elegibilidad prescrito por ley para el cargo.

El Código de Educación de Texas impone requisitos adicionales:
Para ser elegido para una junta escolar, un individuo debe ser un votante calificado: tener 18 años de edad o más, ser ciudadano de los Estados Unidos, residente de Texas, votante registrado, no haber sido determinado como totalmente o parcialmente incapacitado mentalmente por un tribunal apropiado, y no haber sido condenado definitivamente por un delito grave. Código Electoral de Texas, § 11.061; Código Electoral de Texas, § 11.002.
Una persona no es elegible para servir en una junta escolar si ha sido condenada por un delito grave o por un delito bajo la sección 43.02(b) del Código Penal de Texas referente a la prostitución. Código Electoral de Texas, § 11.066.
