Requirements of an Apprentice Teacher
Hold a bachelor’s degree with a minimum 2.5 GPA from DOE accredited university
Pass criminal history background check
Willingness to enroll in an Alternative Certification Program
How Do I Become an Apprentice Teacher?
Visit the Humble ISD employment page on our website
Complete the Humble ISD teacher application and complete Apprentice Teacher section when applying
Browse current vacancies and apply for teacher positions of interest
How Long Do I Have To Become Certified?
School Year 1 (while teaching as an full time apprentice)
Enrollment in an ACP program by the end of semester of hire
Create a TEAL account if needed
Completion of all ACP course modules/hours
Completion of Field Observation hours
Completion of any program pre-tests (if required)
Pass Content Exams
Obtain Statement of Eligibility
**Once these requirements are met submit SOE to HR and apply for SBEC intern certificate
School Year 2
Teach a full year on intern certificate
Pass PPR Test
At conclusion of the year, receive recommendation from ACP to apply for Standard Certification
