Humble ISD's District Teacher of the Year Darcy Petzold has been named one of five elementary finalists for Region 4 Teacher of the Year!
Ms. Petzold was selected from 39 elementary teachers of the year in the Houston area who represent 48 school districts and charter schools. The Region 4 Education Service Center encompasses a seven-county area comprised of 1.2 million students and 99,000 educators.
Ms. Petzold teaches second grade at Eagle Springs Elementary where she has taught for the past 13 years. She joined Humble ISD in 2007.
She interviewed with the Region 4 Teacher of the Year Finalist selection committee on July 9. The winner will be announced Aug. 3.
This marks the second year in a row that Humble ISD has advanced in the regional competition. Last year, District Teacher of the Year Joe Paneitz went on to be selected as the Region 4 Teacher of the Year.
