Parents and the public are invited to a Community Input Meeting to be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 20, regarding attendance zones for the new Lakeland Elementary School

Humble ISD is building a new Lakeland Elementary School to provide children attending the 60-year-old school with a larger campus that is designed for the needs of 21st-century students. The new Lakeland Elementary School is being built on Rustic Timbers Drive and will open in August 2021.

The district invites parents and the public to a Community Input Meeting regarding the establishment of an attendance zone for the new Lakeland Elementary School. The Community Input Meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 20. Due to limitations on the number of people who can be inside a building while maintaining physical distance, the meeting will be held by webinar. Participants are able to ask questions during the webinar. To join the webinar please visit www.humbleisd.net/communityinputmeeting at 7 p.m. Thursday. If you would like Spanish language translation of the meeting, please email public.communications@humbleisd.net.

At this meeting, options being considered by the School Attendance Area Committee will be presented.

The new school is anticipated to serve some students who currently attend Lakeland, Jack M. Fields Sr., and River Pines elementary schools.

The School Attendance Area Committee is continuing to work on attendance zone options. Gathering input at the Community Input Meeting is an important step in the process. Following the meeting, the district also will collect input online from August 20-25. An attendance area for the new school is expected to be established this fall and would take effect in August 2021 when the new Lakeland Elementary School opens.
