Humble ISD announces plans to name new Humble High School Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach

Coach Schulz

Humble ISD has announced its plans to name Marcus Schulz as the new Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach of Humble High School. Schulz currently serves as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach for Splendora ISD. He has been Splendora ISD’s Athletic Director since 2014. During his time at Splendora, 60 students from multiple sports signed college letters of intent. In football, the varsity team became Undefeated District Champions in 2018. Schulz was named the 2018 Football District 11-4A Coach of the Year and the 2018 All Montgomery County Football Coach of the Year.

Schulz’s experience includes 17 years of high school coaching including in Gainesville ISD, Sanger ISD, Andrews ISD, Hillsboro ISD and Splendora ISD. He coached track and field, baseball and football. He brings seven years of experience as Head Football Coach. At Splendora under Schulz’s leadership, the football team became Bi-District Champions for the first time in the school’s 74-year history.

Coach Schulz earned his bachelor’s degree at Austin College and his master’s degree at Lamar University.

“My goal is a championship athletic program at Humble High School by helping players be successful in and outside the athletic arena,” Schulz said. “I realize the importance of a well-rounded education by exhibiting connections to the classroom and athletics. I am very excited to meet everyone, become involved in the Humble community, and build on Humble High School’s traditions and school spirit.”

The Humble High School Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach position became available because Coach Charles West was chosen as Assistant Athletic Director for Spring Branch ISD. Coach Schulz will be on the Humble High School campus in May.

“Coach Schulz is excited about developing and maintaining a competitive school sports program at Humble High School with an emphasis on student participation, work ethic and character,” Troy Kite, Humble ISD Executive Director for UIL Athletics/Fine Arts, said. “He brings experience, energy and a passion for teaching, coaching and learning.”
