Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Fagen receives five-year service pin
Robert Sitton, Humble ISD 2020-2021 School Board President, presented Humble ISD Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Fagen with the district’s five-year service pin during the June 8, 2021, meeting of the Board of Trustees. Humble ISD service pins are given to employees every five years, starting with their five-year anniversary.

Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Fagen was honored for her five years of service to Humble ISD with the district’s five-year service pin, presented during the June 8, 2021, meeting of the Board of Trustees.

“Arguably the best vote I have ever taken as a Board member was when we hired Dr. Fagen,” Robert Sitton, 2020-2021 School Board President, said prior to presenting the service pin.

Dr. Fagen joined Humble ISD in 2016 as Superintendent after serving eight years as Superintendent in two other states. She was Superintendent of the Tucson Unified School District in Arizona and the Douglas County School District in Colorado.

Before relocating to Arizona, Dr. Fagen was a teacher, associate principal, principal, executive director of high schools and associate superintendent for 12 years in Iowa, where she was born and raised.

Under Dr. Fagen’s leadership, Humble ISD has grown from an enrollment of approximately 41,000 to approximately 46,000 students with 44 schools and more under construction.

Also during her tenure, Dr. Fagen has led the district through major challenges, including Hurricane Harvey and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Fagen serves on the Board of Directors for the Texas School Alliance, the Legislative Committee of Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA), the Advisory Board of Humble Area Assistance Ministries (HAAM), and the Board and Executive Committee for Partnership Lake Houston.

Dr. Fagen’s role in education is not just professional; she says it’s also personal.

“I am not only an educator and a superintendent, but also the parent of children in my own district,” Dr. Fagen said. “I feel like being a parent has made me a much better teacher and leader.”
