Atascocita High School Assistant Cross Country and Track and Field Coach Chris Carter competed in the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon.
Coach Carter, who competed in the men’s triple jump in late June, trained alongside his students during their quest for the District 21-6A Track and Field title in the spring.
Coach Carter’s students and fellow coaches cheered him on as they watched him compete live on television during a watch party.
“We just wanted to come together to show our support as a team,” Todd Symons, Atascocita High School Track and Field Head Coach, said. Coach Symons held the watch party at his home.
Coach Carter finished fourth out of all Americans competing for a spot in the top three for the U.S. Olympic Team for the triple jump.
Coach Carter graduated from the University of Houston and is a former All American. Since 2013, he’s coached and also taught geometry at Atascocita High School.
