Chris Cummings

Mr. Cummings joins Humble ISD from Klein ISD, where he is Information Technology Director. In 2019, he was among 50 technology professionals nationwide to receive the CIO Ones to Watch Award from CIO and the CIO Executive Council. The award honors professionals who demonstrate technology and management skills to maintain continuity, drive innovation, and lead teams.

Prior to Klein ISD, Mr. Cummings worked for the Pineywoods Community Academy, Scitor Corp., and served in the United States Navy.

Mr. Cummings’ experience includes 12 years in education, three years in private industry, and seven years of military service. He also has served as a Klein Volunteer Firefighter. 

He graduated from the Naval Information Technology and Intelligence Systems Academy, Naval Cryptologic Technical Academy, the ISTQB Advanced Agile Technical Testing Program through Villanova University, and the Radar Systems Program through Georgia Tech University.

“Public service is very meaningful to me,” Mr. Cummings said. “I am excited to join Humble ISD, a fast-growth district, to focus on meeting the needs of families.”

Humble ISD serves nearly 48,000 students and operates six high schools, nine middle schools, and 30 elementary schools.

Mr. Cummings grew up in upstate New York and has lived in Texas for the past 12 years. He is married to his wife Tammy and is a father of five.  His first day with Humble ISD will be October 25.
