Larkin Le Sueur, Humble ISD’s Career and Technical Education Director, was honored as one of the “Top 4 under 40” in the Lake Houston area.

Every year, Partnership Lake Houston selects four individuals under the age of 40 and honors them for their influence and service to the area. Partnership Lake Houston is the chamber of commerce and economic development for Atascocita, Humble, Kingwood, Summerwood, and Fall Creek.

Le Sueur said he felt his biggest contribution to the community has been expanding Career and Technical Education throughout Humble ISD middle schools.

“I’m proud of being a part of great teams that have progressed Career and Technical Education in the middle schools, providing more opportunities for hands-on exploration, and generating excitement about knowing not just who you are, but what you want to do,” Le Sueur said. “When they get to high school, they can take advantage of all the opportunities that Humble ISD has to offer in the high school years.”

Le Sueur led the development of the CTE exploration wheel for sixth graders, which launched last year. Sixth grade students across the district spend four to five weeks learning about different career paths and technical skills. Students experience modules in animal science, automotive and architecture, JROTC and criminal justice, STEM coding and innovation, A/V and graphic editing, health science, culinary and service industry, computer technology and accounting/finance.

“Usually CTE only starts in seventh grade, and they’re only state designated courses. But the district supported us pushing it a little bit earlier, and it's been great,” Le Sueur said. “It's an opportunity where students have exposure not only to all the courses, but also industry experts.”

Le Sueur has been at Humble ISD since 2009. Before becoming director of Career and Technical Education, Le Sueur worked as a CTE coordinator for middle schools, a robotics teacher at the CTE center for high school students, and as a teacher at Kingwood Middle School.

“What I love about Humble ISD is they allow us to experiment and be innovative,” Le Sueur said. “To be recognized as an influencer in a place I value and respect is incredibly humbling.”
