This school year, Humble ISD high school students will have a new option in learning job skills. Students in grades 10-12 from Atascocita, Humble, Kingwood, Kingwood Park, and Summer Creek high schools will have barbering courses available to take as an elective.
“Our new barbering classes offer a unique experience for students expressing an interest in the barbering industry,” Kimberly Young, Career and Technical Education Coordinator (CTE) said. “These courses will help our students in their pursuit of a Class A Barber license, which will allow them the opportunity to work as a licensed Barber.”
The new courses, Barbering 1 and Barbering 2, are part of the district’s CTE program. The CTE program consists of over 40 programs of study that provide students with first-hand experience prior to graduation.
Barbering courses will be taught off-campus at Five Star Elite Fades Barber College, located at Will Clayton Parkway and Atascocita Road until a space is ready at Humble High School, which is undergoing an expansion and renovation project.
