Join us for College Night from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 10 at the Humble Civic Center located at 8233 Will Clayton Parkway. There will be over 100 colleges, universities, military and trade schools available for students and parents to visit in the main ballroom. The City of Humble is sponsoring this free community event.
Humble ISD school counselors will be available to help answer questions. In addition, there will be two workshops during the event, with sessions held every 30 minutes beginning at 6:25 p.m. The workshops will be held in the breakout rooms in the front of the Civic Center and will cover the following topics:
- Scholarships 101 Presented by Christina Spears
Where do you start to begin to search for free money? Come and join us as we take the journey leading you to seek out scholarships for being left handed, tall, playing video games, having a love for potatoes, duck calling, candy tasting, and many more! - SAT, ACT, TSIA2 Oh My! Presented by Dr. Tong Utakrit
According to higher education researcher Jeff Selingo, a recent survey administered to colleges and universities indicated that even with test-optional policies increasing in popularity, students who submit college readiness assessment scores are more likely to be admitted. In some cases, students who submitted test scores were twice as likely to be admitted compared to their peers who opted to not submit test scores. Come learn about the various college entrance exams, their similarities, their differences and what resources you can utilize to prepare for them.
