Atascocita, Kingwood, Kingwood Park and Summer Creek High School marching bands advanced to the Area Contest after receiving straight 1s from the trio of judges at region competition. Bands must receive all 1s to advance.
The Kingwood Park High School band will compete in their Area Contest on Saturday, October 22, at Channelview High School. For Atascocita, Kingwood and Summer Creek High School, the Area Contest will be Saturday, October 29, at Galena Park ISD Stadium.
This year, the UIL will hold a state marching band contest for Class 2A, 4A and 6A schools. Kingwood Park is a 5A school. The state marching band contest will not occur until the 2023-2024 school year for 5A schools.
The UIL places schools into 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A and 6A divisions based upon the number of students enrolled in a school.
Atascocita, Kingwood and Summer Creek are 6A schools and will be competing at Area for a chance to compete in the 2022 UIL State Marching Band Contest in San Antonio, scheduled for November 7-9 at the Alamodome.
