It was another exciting weekend for Humble ISD fine arts students as they put their talents to the test to try and earn a spot onto the Texas Music Educators Association All-State groups for choir and band.

All-State Choir
Summer Creek had an impressive showing with five singers selected to the TMEA All-State Choir.

Seniors Stanford Smith (Bass 1) and Sofia Plata (Alto 1) and juniors Shelby Dotson (Alto 2), Khye Colbert (Bass 1) and Kayla Cistrunk (Alto 2) were selected to the All-State Choir.

Kingwood seniors Ennis Watt (Bass 1) and Aaron Hatcher (Bass 2) and Atascocita senior Sarah Squires (Soprano 1) and junior Bonzja Achtermann (Bass 2) were also selected.

A total of nine Humble ISD students will represent the district at the TMEA conference in February as all-staters.

All-State Band
Four Humble ISD students were ultimately selected for the TMEA All-State Band this past weekend.

Humble senior Jordan Stairs was selected for tenor trombone, while junior Andres Herrera earned a spot playing cornet/trumpet. Atascocita junior Jake Casilio will play the french horn in the All-State band, while Summer Creek senior Jackson Bowman will star on the tenor saxophone.

All-State Orchestra
All-State Orchestra was decided in the fall and Humble ISD had four students selected - Atascocita’s  Zach Argomido (violin), Summer Creek’s Zach Houlton (cello) and Thomas Feng (violin) and Kingwood’s Slava Tchoubko (bass).

In total, Humble ISD will have 17 fine arts students representing the district at the 2023 TMEA Convention in San Antonio, Texas from February 8-11, 2023.
