Crest Award Winners

February 16, 2023

At the 2023 Texas School Counselors Association (TSCA) Conference held from February 11-13, four Humble ISD schools were honored for winning 2022 CREST (Counselors Reinforcing Excellence in Students in Texas) Awards.

Atascocita Springs Elementary (Denise Toro and Chanel Thompson), Groves Elementary (Ashley Frutos and Andrea Jean), River Pines Elementary (Stephanie Zamor) and Riverwood Middle School (Shayla Green, Amy Jolley and Lori Robinson) counselors received 2022 CREST Awards for Counseling Excellence.

“This is an awesome achievement. We are so proud of their commitment to implementing quality counseling programs that meet the academic, personal and career development of their students,” Director of Personalized Counseling Tye Hobbs said. “Winning awards like the CREST shines a bright light on the innovation and development of counseling in Humble ISD.”

CREST, which is sponsored by the TSCA, recognizes schools that demonstrate the very best in school counseling.

School counselors receiving the CREST award use data-driven results to show the effectiveness of their comprehensive guidance and counseling program. The CREST Award recipients demonstrate a commitment to excellence as they work to improve the lives and achievement of students by providing classroom guidance, college and career readiness and equipping students with the social and emotional skills necessary to be successful in and outside of the classroom.

Humble ISD is one of nine Houston-area school districts to have campuses recognized as 2022 CREST Award winners, joining Alief ISD, Fort Bend ISD, Galena Park ISD, Houston ISD, Lamar CISD, New Caney ISD, Pasadena ISD and Tomball ISD.

This is the second time in the history of the CREST Awards for Humble ISD to have four schools honored in the same year. This is the third-straight year that RPE has won a CREST Award. This is the second time RMS has won the award and the first time for GE and ASE staffs.
