River Pines Elementary students took their research projects a step further by hosting a Black History Month Wax and Living Museum Expo.
Students dressed up as historical figures and stood in front of a presentation as if they were a wax figure. Two other students at the same time gave a historical presentation about their wax figure.
“We wanted to make this a memorable experience for our students,” RPE Principal Rachel Dunn said. “We do know they do the normal research but we wanted to take it up a notch. So, doing the living wax museum was a fun way to engage our students in this. They had a blast.”
The RPE Step Team also performed at the Expo event as well to honor Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) and The Divine Nine, which are black fraternities and sororities.
