For the 2022-2023 school year, Humble ISD had 48 students recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Humble ISD increased the number of students honored through National Merit from 2022 to 2023 by 55%. In 2022, there were 31 students recognized by National Merit.

Each year, approximately 1.5 million students across the United States apply to ultimately be a National Merit Scholarship recipient. This is based on their academic performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Corporation Qualifying Test. Out of this initial pool, approximately 50,000 students across the nation who took the qualifying PSAT exam earned National Merit Commended Scholars.

The top 1% of students in the United States who take the qualifying test are recognized as National Merit Semifinalists and are considered for National Merit Scholarships. For the 2023 National Merit Competition year, Humble ISD had eight students recognized as National Merit Semifinalists in September and then as National Merit Finalists in February:
