Nancy Morrison was honored at the May 23, 2023, School Board Meeting for her eight years of service on the School Board. She was presented with a commemorative lamp. Humble ISD’s hashtag is #WeAreTheLight.

Nancy Morrison was first elected to Position 7 of the Humble ISD School Board on May 9, 2015. During her terms, she served as Vice-President, Secretary, Parliamentarian and President. She was President when COVID-19 hit.

Nancy Morrison has served the students of Humble ISD since she moved to Humble in 1975. As an Humble ISD employee, Morrison served as Principal of Lakeshore Elementary, Pine Forest Elementary School and Foster Elementary. She was an Assistant Principal at Foster Elementary and Oaks Elementary School, and a teacher at Humble Elementary.

“Nancy, I think the thing I’ll always remember about you is that I can’t go anywhere with you, that somebody does not know who you are or their kids or their grandkids, and by some stretch their great-grandkids,” School Board member Marques Holmes said. “You exude what the passion of a Board Member should be. It is absolutely about the kids and the teachers and your passion just shines through. I just want to say thank you for showing me what it means to be a Board Member. It’s an honor to have known you.”

Trustee Chris Parker added: “Her institutional memory of Humble ISD is second to none. The relationships she has formed with former students, parents, team members and school board members is one of the things I admire most. On a personal note I will miss her. She is a fellow Lumberjack. Axe ’em Jacks! You are truly an Humble ISD legend.”

Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Fagen expressed appreciation. “I just want to say thank you, Ms. Morrison,” Dr. Fagen said. “You’ve always been kind and supportive and honest, and I’ve appreciated all of those things. Thank you for your service and everything you’ve done for this district for a very long time.”

All Board members in attendance expressed their thanks to Ms. Morrison for her leadership, guidance and dedication.
