Second Baptist Church receives recognition from Humble ISD School Board at August Meeting

Humble ISD held its annual “Erase the Need School Supply Distribution” event at Second Baptist Church North Campus on July 28, 2023.

This was the first time the event was held at Second Baptist Church and because of the additional space available, this year’s event was expanded. Including distribution of school supplies, Humble ISD barber students were giving free haircuts to children, Lions Club members were administering vision exams and HAAM was handing out food and other resources.

Child Nutrition staff helped families complete free and reduced lunch applications, local clinics offered immunizations and much more.

A total of 5,000 school supply kits were handed out during the event.

“This year’s event was truly spectacular because of all the resources families could access at one time and that is only because we had the indoor space to expand,” Humble ISD Chief Community Engagement Officer Jerri Monbaron said. “We are truly grateful for Second Baptist partnering with Humble ISD on this event.”

Second Baptist Church was recognized for their partnership in this event during the August 8, 2023 Humble ISD School Board Meeting. Pastor Micah Gill was on hand to accept the recognition from Humble ISD Elementary Counseling & Behavior Services and PK-12 Homeless Liaison Matt Smith, Humble ISD School Board President Robert Scarfo and Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Fagen.
