Ridge Creek Elementary School kindergarten teacher Jessica Patterson was surprised by cameras, friends and family on Friday, September 22, as she was selected as the first recipient for this year’s Randalls Red Apple Award.
“Ms. Patterson last year went above and beyond with my child,” Ridge Creek parent Mandy Bracksieck said about nominating Ms. Patterson for the award. “She just recognized that he needed a little bit more direction and guidance and took care of that for us.”
The surprise was captured by KHOU’s Deborah Duncan, the host of Great Day Houston. Ms. Patterson was surprised with the award, $300 in gift cards and flowers.
“When I think of Ms. Patterson she is always building great relationships with our students,” Ridge Creek Elementary Principal Dr. Andrenetta Scott said.
The monthly award is to reward those unforgettable educators in the Greater Houston area. Ms. Patterson was the winner for September.
“We are so proud to be a part of this award and we just want to say thank you for all you’re doing to fuel the future with your work through children,” Albertsons Companies Director of Public Relations and Communications Christy Lara said.
The surprise aired on Wednesday, September 27 on Great Day Houston.
