Sponsored by the City of Humble, Friends of the Humble Museum and the Kim Allen Foundation, the Humble Museum will host its third annual “A Revolutionary Experience” on Saturday, January 27, from 10 am to 4 pm.

“It’s a community-wide event we host for people to learn about history, tour the Humble Museum and see all that the museum has to offer,” Executive Director of the Humble Museum Dr. Robert Meaux said.

The event, organized by Revolutionary Education Inc, will be free to the public, and students and their families will have the opportunity to see historical recreations of Revolutionary-era living and culture, such as an 18th century townsite, John Dunlap’s print shop and a demonstration of a Continental Army encampment showcasing American and British soldiers of the American Revolution with flintlock firing demonstrations.

Kingwood, Kingwood Park and Atascocita High School students from the Revolutionary Education Military Company will be performing as soldiers in the Continental Army encampment showcase.

Revolutionary Education Board of Directors Kelly Abdmoulaie and Dani Galiano, both 5th grade teachers at Greentree Elementary, will be overseeing an 18th century outdoor kitchen that will be offering samples of Revolutionary-era recipes.

An apothecary will showcase the medicinal remedies that were used during the 18th century.

Humble High School Varsity Theater actors will perform in a short, family-friendly play about Samuel Adams and the Boston Tea Party in the Charles Bender Performing Arts Center.

Revolutionary Education interns Isabella Burhardt and Emily Culley, both seniors at Kingwood High School, will be assisting with costuming for theater performances the day of the event.

The event will also feature a parade for children and their families to march alongside soldiers. A fife and drum corp featuring students from Humble ISD and surrounding areas will be leading the parade with a musical performance.

“We’ll have various activities for visitors to participate in,” Revolutionary Education President John Schmonsees said. “Interactivity is critical and is the foundation of our events.”

There will also be 18th century crafts and games for children in the Charles Bender Performing Arts Center.

“This is an exciting, fun family event with a great performance by the Humble High School Varsity Theater about the Boston Tea Party,” Schmonsees said. “Humble ISD students of all ages and parents should come out to see our recreated military encampment and 18th century kitchen and participate in our crafts and games.”
