The final leg of the 2024 track and field season is here.
Over the next two days, Humble ISD athletes will compete with the best across the State of Texas at the University of Texas’ Mike A. Myers Stadium in the UIL State Track & Field Meet.
Friday’s action will include Kingwood Park as the Class 5A programs compete.
Eva Abshire will represent the Panthers in the 300-meter hurdles. Abshire’s qualifying time of 44.20 punched her ticket to Austin.
Courtney Daniel will represent Kingwood Park in the discus and shot put competitions. A toss of 134-feet-1-inch in the discus and 44-feet-11.50-inches in the shot put has Daniel in Austin.

On Saturday is when the Class 6A programs will compete for gold.
Atascocita will be sending its girls and boys 4x100-meter relay teams, girls 4x200-meter relay team and the boys 4x400-meter relay team. Individually, Bennie Haywood will compete in the boys 110-meter hurdles (14.09 seconds); Jelani Watkins will run the boys 100-meter dash (10.28) and the 200-meter dash (20.56); Landon Fontenot will run the boys 400-meter dash (47.62); Jayden Kimble will battle it out in the girls discus (154-feet-10-inches); Jackson Norris will do the boys long jump (24-1.75) and Mia Maxwell will leap in the girls triple jump (40-8).

Humble will have Jedadiah Stockton represent the Wildcats in the 800-meter run after posting a time of 1:52.80 in the Region III-6A Championships. The boys 4x400-meter relay team will also be in Austin for Humble after running a 3:15.76.
Kingwood’s Hugh Small will represent Humble ISD in the 100 and 400-meter dash wheelchair competition. Small qualified with a time of 24.40 in the 100-meter-dash and 1:37.35 in the 400-meter-dash.
Savannah Byers will also represent the Mustangs in the high jump after qualifying with a clearance of 5-feet-10-inches.
Summer Creek is sending the girls 4x200 and 4x400-meter relay teams to compete for the top of the podium.
