On Tuesday, November 12, Humble ISD HOSA students and advisors from Atascocita, Humble, Kingwood, Kingwood Park, and Summer Creek High Schools were honored by the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center at the Humble ISD School Board Meeting for their outstanding achievements in annual blood drive initiatives.

Humble ISD has over 1,000 students actively participating in Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA). Each year, these students organize blood drives at their campuses, getting involved in every step of the process—from selecting themes and recruiting donors to handling paperwork and receiving training in health and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of all participants.

During the 2023-2024 school year, Humble ISD HOSA advisors and students organized a total of 18 blood drives, collecting 1,373 pints of blood and impacting more than 4,100 lives. This achievement placed Humble ISD among only eight school districts in the Houston area that collected over 1,000 pints of blood for the year. Notably, Humble ISD ranked second in the state for blood donations, out of 139 school districts.

At Tuesday’s recognition ceremony, the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center awarded each participating campus with a certificate, and presented the district with a plaque and trophy in appreciation of their efforts in organizing blood drives.
