Humble ISD invites families and community members to celebrate the grand opening of the new western-themed playground at Hidden Hollow Elementary. A brief dedication ceremony will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 24, at the school, located at 4104 Appalachian Trail.
The event will feature a student performance by Music Mania, Hidden Hollow’s 5th grade percussion ensemble and speeches from student speakers.
Inspired by Hidden Hollow Elementary’s mascot, the roadrunner, this new western-themed playspace features a train, water tower and a collection of western storefronts, including a bank, jail, general store and a hotel.
Designed for children ages 5 to 12, the playground’s main structure features climbing elements, interactive activity panels, and thrilling slides. From the top, kids can enjoy a scenic view before sliding down to the western-style street below.
Additional attractions include spinners, swings, ziplines, and a custom net climber shaped like a train. The playground’s handicap-accessible poured-in-place rubber surfacing ensures safety while enhancing the theme with creative designs such as cacti, train tracks and cow skulls.
This new playground marks the 14th installation as part of Humble ISD’s campus playground revitalization initiative and is the fourth unveiled in the 2024-2025 school year. The project was designed and installed by Lone Star Recreation of Texas.
Humble ISD elementary playgrounds are open to the public when school is not in session. Join us in celebrating this exciting addition to Hidden Hollow Elementary!
