On Monday, the new obstacle course and fitness area at West Lake Middle School was unveiled to students and the public. The ceremony included comments from Principal Dr. Joey Washington, speeches from students, demonstrations of the obstacle course by West Lake Middle School athletes and performances by West Lake’s cheer team, dance team and band.
West Lake Middle School is the second Humble ISD campus to debut an updated obstacle course and fitness area during the 2024-2025 school year. This is the fourth new outdoor obstacle course and fitness area completed in Humble ISD.
Other middle and high schools in Humble ISD will receive these enhancements by 2027 as part of Bond 2022.

West Lake Middle School's new fitness course is built with handicap-accessible, poured-in-place rubber surfacing that provides fall protection. The course features a variety of equipment, including a Cross Trainer with a touchscreen, Chest Press Machine, Lat Pull Down Machine, Leg Press Machine, Leg Lift & Pull Up Station, Suspension and Kettlebell Cross-Training Stations, an Ab Bench, and 24- and 16-inch step platforms. The custom-designed safety surfacing showcases the school’s colors and mascot, the West Lake Wolves.
Designed and installed by KOMPAN, Inc., the fitness area and obstacle course is open to the public outside of school hours.
