Humble ISD invites families and community members to celebrate the grand opening of the new ‘great outdoors’-themed playground at Timbers Elementary. A brief dedication ceremony will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, February 24, at the school, located at 6910 Lonesome Woods Trail.
The event will feature a dance performance by the Timbers Elementary Wolfette’s Club, a choir performance, and speeches from student council members.
Timbers Elementary students will “hit the trails” on their ‘great outdoors’-themed playground. Designed for children ages 5 to 12, the playground features custom equipment and detailed poured-in-place rubber surfacing that brings the great outdoors to life.
At the centerpiece of the play area is a towering “mountain” rope structure, allowing students to climb and take in the view before making their way across a “river” rope bridge or sliding nearly 18 feet down a “waterfall” slide. A double zipline offers a high-flying experience that mimics the sensation of birds soaring above the playground.
The “RV” play structure incorporates multiple interactive elements, including a cliff rider. This feature challenges students to swing from one side to the other, replicating the motion of pole vaulting.
Additional features include a swing set topped with freshwater fish native to the area, complete with ADA-accessible seating. A handicap-accessible universal carousel is centrally located within a creatively designed “whirlpool,” enhancing the playground’s immersive theme. Freestanding play elements, such as a fishing-boat themed springer, a jumping bridge, spinners, and rocking equipment, provide a variety of activities to engage children of all abilities.
This new playground marks the 15th installation in Humble ISD’s ongoing campus playground revitalization initiative and is the fifth unveiled in the 2024-2025 school year. The project was designed and installed by KOMPAN, Inc.
Humble ISD elementary playgrounds are open to the public when school is not in session. Families and community members are invited to celebrate this exciting addition to Timbers Elementary!
