In January, Humble ISD hosted its annual Spelling Bee, which included 35 campus champions from elementary and middle school campuses.

After seven intense rounds, Groves Elementary third grader Emma Del Rio finished as the Runner-Up and Riverwood Middle School eighth grader Ali Khawaja was named the Spelling Bee Champion for a second-straight year.

On Tuesday, March 18, Emma and Ali were honored at the Humble ISD Board of Trustees meeting.

Ali will now compete in the Scripps Regional Spelling Bee hosted at the Houston Community College West Houston Institute on Saturday, March 22nd.
