Humble ISD invites families and community members to join us in celebrating the grand opening of the new aviation-themed playground at Eagle Springs Elementary. A brief dedication ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, at the school, located at 12500 Will Clayton Parkway.
The event will feature performances by the Eagle Springs choir, along with poems and speeches by students.
Nestled near George Bush Intercontinental Airport, the new playground brings the excitement of aviation to life! It boasts an Air Traffic Control tower, a helicopter, a fighter jet, and a plane ready for takeoff. Designed for children ages 5 to 12, the main structure offers an array of climbers and belting paths that lead to views from the clouds or the cockpit of the plane. When it’s time to land, kids can choose from several thrilling slides to make their way back to the tarmac.
Other features of the playground include a smooth two-way zipline, a Crab Trap, multiple swings, and spinners. A communication sign with pictures and symbols ensures that non-verbal, speech-challenged, and early-learning children can easily communicate with their friends and caregivers. The playground also includes seamless, poured-in-place safety surfacing, featuring cloud designs, runways, planes, terminal signs, and more to ensure accessibility for all.
This new playground is the 16th installation in Humble ISD’s ongoing campus playground revitalization initiative and is the sixth unveiled in the 2024-2025 school year. The project was designed and installed by Lone Star Recreation of Texas.
Humble ISD elementary playgrounds are open to the public when school is not in session. Families and community members are invited to celebrate this exciting addition to Eagle Springs Elementary!
