Nineteen Humble ISD students earn State VASE Medals

Nineteen pieces of art by Humble ISD students received medals at the State Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE). Only about 4 percent of pieces entered statewide received the high honor of a medal. 

Thirty-three pieces of art by Humble ISD students advanced to State VASE and 19 of the 33 received medals. Pieces advancing to state were selected from 31,996 artworks from Texas students after receiving high ratings at the regional and state level. 

“Humble ISD Visual Arts and the Humble ISD Fine Arts department is proud of the students who qualified for state and those who medaled at the Texas Art Education Association State Visual Art Scholastic Event,” Humble ISD Assistant Director of Fine Arts Sandra Newton said. “Our award-winning Visual Art programs, fantastic Visual Art Educators, and incredibly supportive campuses and school district allow for an environment for our Humble ISD Visual Art students to flourish.”

Students receiving medals were: Atascocita High School’s Liliana Alvarez, Marcus Davis, Rachael Gibson, Brea Hayes, Insua Jordan and Dawn Mansfield; Kingwood High School’s Marcy Borrell, Paulina Serrano Fuller, Madison Knell, Hazel Mitchell, Bess Overton, Shelby Skaggs and Serenity Smith; Kingwood Park High School’s Valentina Garibay-Arroyo, Raven Mitchell and Lorelei Spears and Summer Creek High School’s Dalila Lara, Jaiden Porche and Isabella Sanchez.
