Atascocita High School opened in August of 2006. Current enrollment is approximately 3,100 students. The first seniors were the Class of 2008.
The 425,000 square foot building is designed around eight houses or small learning communities. Students spend the majority of their school day within their houses where they attend core academic classes of English, math, science and social studies. This arrangement allows house principals, counselors and teachers to work together to personalize learning for students.
Atascocita High School's mascot is the eagle and colors are red, white, and blue. The design of this school grew out of recommendations put forth by a number of groups focused on improving learning in Humble ISD, including the High Schools of the Future Task Force, the Bond Review Committee, Smaller Learning Communities Initiative, and 2010.
