Parent Meeting for all students in tennis for school year 24-25 will be held at 6:15 p.m. on Monday, July 29, at the tennis courts. In case of inclement weather, we will meet in the gym.

AHS Varsity Tennis Summer/Fall 2024

Open Courts

Mandatory attendance to TWO open courts to maintain your status on Varsity
- If you are attending a summer camp or going to drills during the week of open court you are exempt from this requirement
  - Communication needs to be done through Remind.
Physical and Rank One paperwork MUST be completed to attend open courts, NO EXCEPTIONS
If canceled due to inclement weather, a Tweet & Remind message will be sent out (X/Twitter, @AHSTennis)

You may challenge over the summer to move up the ladder
Matches are 2 of 3 sets with a 10 point tie break for the third set

Back to School August 7, 2024

School starts Wednesday 8/7 and we will begin our normal practice schedule on this date:
- Monday till 4pm
- Tuesday match day
- Wednesday
  - Block day: out at bell
  - No block: out at 3:30pm
- Thursdays
  - Block day: 3-4:30pm
  - No block: out at 4pm
- Friday match day

Fall Break: October 7-11, 2024

Practice Monday Oct 7th, 3-4:30 pm
Playoff Match Tuesday Oct 8th
Practice Wednesday- Friday TBD
If you are going to be out of town or not able to make the match(s) or practice(s) please let me know ASAP as you will not play Varsity.

If you miss those dates and fail to tell me NOW; if you are an underclassmen you will be moved to JV class for spring semester, if you are a senior you will not be in tennis for the second semester. I am letting everyone know with plenty of lead time so there are no questions or confusion.

Reminders

Players are expected to arrive on time to all practices and departure times for matches with all equipment needed.
Earbuds and phones NOT allowed.
- Includes open court AND practices
You will be provided with a copy of the team tennis schedule for Varsity.
All communication needs to be done through Remind

Tryouts/Preseason Matches

Tryout Information:
Tryouts for incoming first-year students and any students in high school who could play Varsity will be May 20-22 from 3-5 pm , you must have a physical for next school year as well as having all rank one paperwork completed online. if you cannot make these dates you may tryout on July 29th from 3-5 pm but only if you are varsity level. We do not have tryouts for beginners or first year players, they will be placed in the freshman/beginner class at the beginning of the school year.

Important Dates:

Tryouts : July 31st for incoming freshman who want to play Varsity, if not no tryouts for students going into JV or freshman/beginner classes.

All incoming freshman will be placed in the freshman/beginner class and will start on the first day of school. We do not cut first year sophomores or freshman.

You need to have your physical and rank one paperwork complete on the first day of school, August 7.

2024 Fall Practice Schedule

Varsity:

Monday: till 4:00 for the months of August, September, & October.

Schedule may be adjusted later in the season.

Tuesday: Match day, no match practice

Wednesday: 2-4:00 for August, September, and October depending on class schedule.

Thursday: Practice 2-4:30 pm during the months of August, September, & October.

Friday: Match days, no match class over at end of school

Junior Varsity/Freshman Beginners

Beginning September 12, practice will be from 4:00-5:30 for JV on Monday.

Freshmen practice on Wed from 3:00-4:30 when we have block day.

Spring Practice and Match Schedule

Spring Practice schedule for all classes:

Freshman: Most tournaments will be on Tuesdays. Practice will be Mondays from 3:30-5:00 pm.

Wed: 3:00-4:30 pm on block days.

JV: Will stay with class practice and schedule for mornings, may be adjusted as needed.

Tournaments may be on Tuesday or Thursday.

Varsity: Mondays till 3:30 pm.

tuesdays: till 4:00 pm

wed: block days till 2:50 otherwise till 3:30

Thurs: Block schedule 3-4:30 pm.
