IMPORTANT REMINDERS

- Take this time to remind your child not to bring any prohibited items on campus (toy water guns, splat guns, water balloons, weapons, lighters, pepper spray, drugs/vape items, etc.). Students caught with these items will face serious consequences. Disruptions will not be tolerated!  Remind your child to make good choices and report any actions that are a violation of our Student Code of Conduct. They can see any adult on campus or submit an iHelp tip to assist us in ensuring the safety of our campus.

- Safety: Non-Prohibited Items & Parent Discussions

Parents - Please discuss the importance of not engaging in activities that are a violation of our student code of conduct.  Students are discouraged from taking food from others (including candy, chips, baked goods, etc.) to prevent them from harmful dangers that these items may contain.  As we discussed the dangers of vaping, we are now bringing to your attention another danger, cannabis infused edibles.

Cannabis-infused edibles come in the form of many everyday food items like candy, chips, cookies, brownies, etc.! Students that take these risks are exposing themselves to the dangers of THC and can experience overdose effects such as: vomiting, intoxication, altered perception, anxiety/panic, paranoia, dizziness, slurred speech, poor coordination, difficulty breathing, and/or lung and heart problems.

Help keep your child safe by discussing these and other important strategies:

  • Do not take or ingest any items that are not provided directly to them from their parent

  • Do not accept any candy, drinks, or food (brownies, cookies, chips, etc.) from other students

  • Do not take risks with your health/body by trying vaping/drugs/alcohol

  • Report the suspected use of any vaping/drug/alcohol to the nearest adult or by using iHELP

  • See your Assistant Principal or Counselor if you need help or have questions!

In all cases involving vaping, edibles or any drug related item, students will be subject to disciplinary consequences including, but not limited to, prevention strategies, ISS, OSS, DAEP, and the involvement of law enforcement.  We want to partner with you to keep our students safe.  If you have additional questions, please reach out to your child’s Assistant Principal or Counselor.

- Summative exams will be given this week.  If your child is absent and misses an exam, the make-up summative must be scheduled with the teacher.

- No backpacks will be allowed on Thursday or Friday of this week!  Girls can carry small purses.  Any items brought to school will be confiscated, tagged, and returned at the end of the day.

- Students are still expected to follow the dress code.  Students are encouraged to participate in our dress days.  Students out of dress code will receive consequences.  No pajamas, house slippers, blankets, hats, sunglasses, stuffed animals, etc. are allowed and should be left at home (unless it is an identified dress day).

- Early Release Days: We will not serve lunch on Thursday or Friday this week.  We will release students at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday this week.  If your child is a car rider, please plan to pick them up using the car rider loop.  Pull all the way down and remind your child to get in quickly to help the line move faster.  If your child is a walker/biker, please remind them to leave campus as soon as they are dismissed and follow the proper plan for safety (not crossing any lanes of traffic, use the intersection crossing light, & remaining on the sidewalks).  We appreciate your patience and understanding of the processes needed to ensure the safety of our students.

Early Check-Out

If you are checking your child out from school early on early release days, you must be inside the office to check-in by 12:00 p.m.  We will stop early-check outs at noon to allow us to prepare for dismissal.

End of the 2nd Nine Weeks

Check your child’s grades in HAC and encourage them to complete all assignments that are missing that they have an opportunity to complete. Grading is at the teacher’s discretion (deducting points for late work).

A Message From PTO: Final Call for Help

Gator Parents,

We need your help!  Please help us support our Gator teachers by donating to help us provide a “Coffee & Hot Chocolate Bar” for them next week. Please send the items with your child or bring your donated items to the school’s front office by Wednesday, December 13, 2023.  A special thank you to those that have already signed up!  You may drop off items with any staff member in the front car rider line if your child is a car rider.
