Families invited to the dedication of Creekwood Middle School’s new outdoor obstacle and fitness course to be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 31

Humble ISD invites families to the dedication and open house of Creekwood Middle School’s new outdoor obstacle and fitness course. The event will be from 5 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 31, at Creekwood Middle School, 3603 West Lake Houston Parkway

The new obstacle course was designed for students. There is also adult fitness equipment. Both areas are installed on handicap-accessible, poured-in-place rubber surfacing with fall protection. The obstacle and fitness courses are available for community use when not in use by the school. This is the first new outdoor obstacle course and fitness area completed in Humble ISD. Other middle and high schools in Humble ISD will receive these enhancements by 2027 as part of Bond 2022. At the dedication, students from the Creekwood Middle School Band will perform songs and there will be a demonstration of the new equipment at the dedication.

Obstacle Course Equipment
The obstacle course was designed as a place to be outdoors for exercise, socialization, and fun. Burke Fitness along with TrekFit  manufactured the equipment for people of all ages, abilities, and fitness levels to exercise outdoors together. Outdoor spaces support the physical and mental health of communities.

This timeable obstacle course includes from start to finish:

  • Alpine V1 Boulder (TrekFit) – Designed to offer challenging decline sections which will work the students entire body as they climb around.

  • Summit Bridge (BCI Burke) – Using the rope, climb up the summit and cross the bridge, which utilizes speed and balance skills.

  • Door Knob Jam (BCI Burke) – This area will work out the students’ upper body and core.

  • Bionic Balances (BCI Burke) – Students will work their entire body while improving balance, coordination and agility.

  • Bamboo Jungle (TrekFit) – Tall poles that students can jump from bamboo shoot to bamboo shoot.

  • Lava Leap (BCI Burke) – Students will improve balance, coordination and build leg strength as they jump pod to pod.

  • Cargo Net (TrekFit) – Students will utilize upper body strength to climb this piece.

  • Frog Hop (BCI Burke) – Students will improve their balance as they run across pods that move as they step on them.

  • Wall Clinger (BCI Burke) – Full body workout for students that will challenge them to stay off the ground.

  • Victory Wall (BCI Burke) – Finally, students end the course by running up the victory wall.

The custom designed safety surfacing reflects the school’s colors and mascot.
