Humble ISD invites families to a Playground Dedication and Open House from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Friday, December 1, at Jack Fields Elementary School, 2505 South Houston Avenue.
Jack Fields Elementary will celebrate its new Space-themed playground. The public is invited to a brief dedication ceremony at 4:30 p.m. on December 1. The Jack Fields Elementary choir, composed of 3rd, 4th and 5th graders, will perform along with three student speakers and a performance by the cheerleaders.
Jack Fields Elementary is the second Humble ISD campus to debut an updated playground in the 2023-2024 school year. In October, Oaks Elementary opened its National Parks-themed playground. This is the sixth new playground in the district since the revitalization of the campus playgrounds began. Last year, River Pines (Rainforest-themed); Elm Grove (Treehouse-themed); Park Lakes (Safari-themed) and Woodland Hill (Fairytale-themed) were all unveiled.
New or additional playground equipment, with themes focused on imaginative play and learning, is being installed at every elementary school on handicap-accessible, poured-in-place rubber surfaces instead of mulch, over the next five years. Elementary playgrounds at Humble ISD schools are open to the public when school is not in session.
Jack Fields Elementary School’s new playground brings fun and adventure to a whole new level! This Space-themed playspace is designed for ages 5-12 and features a space shuttle and launch site PlayBooster®, a Hedra Tower with Lunar Blast Net Climber, and a Quantis 8.2 climbing net play system shaped like a figure eight to offer endless opportunities for exploration and climbing fun. These custom netplay concepts are the first of their kind in the Houston area and provide an exciting climb to the top with a thrilling slide back to Earth! A variety of climbers, slides, activity panels, and swings extend the fun throughout the entire playspace.
The Quantis 8.2 climbing net play system installed at Jack Fields Elementary is the first of its kind in Texas and the ninth in the country.
Massive SkyWays® shade sails provide protection and relief from the sun while children explore the variety of nets, belts, and hang out spots the Quantis 8.2 climbing net play system provides. A seamless poured-in-place surfacing ensures access for users of all abilities and was designed in conjunction with a local astronomer. The surfacing features accurate coloring and depiction of planets, constellations and famous satellites providing a unique learning tool for students exploring the solar system!
