Humble ISD invites families to celebrate the grand opening of the new farm-themed playground at Oak Forest Elementary. The community is welcome to attend a brief dedication ceremony at 5:45 p.m. on Monday, October 28, at Oak Forest Elementary, 6400 Kingwood Glen Drive.
The event will feature a performance from the Oak Forest Elementary Big Bang Band and student singers, as well as speeches by student council representatives. Comments will be made by Principal Corinna Ferrier.
Oak Forest Elementary’s new playground features a barn, silo, farmhouse and farmer’s market stand.
Designed for children ages 5-12, the main barn and silo structure offer various climbing features that challenge students to reach the top. Enclosed wire and perforated panels allow children to enjoy the surrounding views, while slides return them to the crops and animals below.
Additional playground attractions include spinners, swings, activity panels, and a tractor spring climber, offering fun throughout the space.
The playground’s seamless, poured-in-place rubber surfacing provides a soft cushion for falls and includes designs of trees, crops and a mud pit. Sculpted animals, hay bales and vegetables complete the farm scene.
This new playground at Oak Forest Elementary is the 12th installed in the district since the revitalization of campus playgrounds began, and the second unveiled in the 2024-2025 school year. It was designed and installed by Lone Star Recreation of Texas.
Elementary playgrounds in Humble ISD are open to the public when school is not in session.
