During the 2025-2026 school year, Humble ISD middle schools students competed in two A+ Academic Meets—one in November and one in February— for a chance to qualify for the A+ Academic UIL District Meet.

The District Meet took place on March 22 at Kingwood Middle School, where top performing students faced off across 17 academic categories in the final competition of the year.

The 17 categories included: Art; Calculator Applications; Chess; Dictionary Skills; Dictionary; Editorial Writing; Impromptu Speaking; Listening, Maps; Graphs,Charts; Mathematics; Modern Oratory; Number Sense; Oral Reading; Ready Writing; Science; Spelling and Social Studies. In competition some categories were split by grade level while other categories were combined grade levels.

Approximately 250 students competed in the A+ Academic UIL District Meet. Students who competed in each category gained points for their team based on placement. First place would gain 15 points, while sixth place would garner four points. The higher the placing, the more points scored.

At the end of the day, Woodcreek Middle School, which is pictured above, finished with 441 points to win the 2024-2025 A+ Academic UIL District Meet.

“It was truly inspiring to witness the enthusiasm, dedication, and academic excellence of our students as they competed in a variety of events,” Humble ISD Advanced Learning Coordinator for Middle Schools & District A+ Academic UIL Lead Jennifer Holloway said. “Their hard work and passion for learning were on full display, and we are incredibly proud of their achievements.”

Riverwood Middle School took second place overall with 386 points and Creekwood Middle School placed third overall with 236 points.
