The Great DWE Summer Book Swap
Bring in your gently used books and trade them in for “new to you” books to read over the summer!
Deerwood students are invited to participate in our DWE Summer Book Swap. The Book Swap will be held in the Deerwood Media Center. Our goal is to send every Dolphin reader home with at least one “new to you” book.
Here’s how our DWE Great Summer Book Swap will work:
At home, decide which gently used books would be good to pass on to another student This does not require a new book. Take a book that your Dolphin has finished reading. If a book does not meet the donation guidelines, it will not be accepted.
Donation Guidelines:
a. Hardcover or softcover books
b. Chapter books, picture books, joke books, etc. (chapter books are in big demand)
c. Books must be appropriate reading for K-6 students. Students will receive tickets based on the grade level of the books they brought in.
d. No adult books, magazines, coloring/activity books, or board books
e. Books must be in good condition: no smelly books, books with stains, rips, missing pages, or writing in them
Bring donated books to school May 6 - 17 on your student’s library day.
To avoid books being donated without permission, parents must sign a Google Form permission slip before books can be donated to the Swap. Parents may also send in handwritten permission notes.
3. Students will receive “Book Bucks” for each book donated. The Book Bucks can then be used to purchase books at the Book Swap. There is a maximum of two books to swap. If you wish to donate more books that meet our Donation Guidelines, please feel free to do so.
Our DWE Great Summer Book Swap will be held during the last weeks of school. Your teacher will inform you of the specific time. Students will browse the book selection and use their book tickets to buy a “new to you” book to take home and read during the summer.
All trades are final and all book tickets not spent by the end of the Swap are invalid (they cannot be used after the Book Swap or saved for another year). No money will be exchanged for the Book Swap. This is strictly a book recycling activity.
