Each year, school districts from across the State of Texas submit limited numbers of artwork made by Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade student artists to be considered for selection as a part of the Youth Art Month State Capitol Exhibit in Austin.
This year, Humble ISD had not one but two students’ art pieces selected for this prestigious honor.
Eagle Springs Elementary’s Karsyn Donohue had her piece “Glass Half Colorful” and Kingwood High School’s Alice Hollenbeck had her piece “Rhythm” selected to be displayed. Their teachers are Brooke Hoerner and Clifton Pope, respectively.
The students were celebrated at an awards ceremony in Austin on March 10, and their artwork will be on display until the end of March.
They were also honored at the Board of Trustees Meeting on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, for their accomplishment.
