Groves Elementary librarian Susan Mitchell was recognized at the August 8, 2023 Humble ISD School Board Meeting for being named the Region 4 Elementary Teacher of the Year.
Mitchell was presented a “Shine A Light and Send It On” neon sign by Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Fagen and Humble ISD School Board President Robert Scarfo in recognition of her accomplishment.
On August 1, Mitchell was announced as the winner out of six finalists for the award during the 34th Region 4 Teacher of the Year Luncheon. A total of 92 teachers across Region 4, which comprises more than 76,000 teachers were honored during the event.
Mitchell moves on to the Texas Association of School Administrators Texas Teacher of the Year competition as a representative of Region 4. The winner will be announced on October 20, 2023 during an awards ceremony at Kalahari Resort & Convention Center.
