For a second-straight season, all five Humble ISD volleyball programs made the playoffs. Atascocita made history by advancing to the Regional Quarterfinals for the first time in program history. 

The Eagles are led by Madeline Odom, who was named the District 21-6A Coach of the Year. 

"I am really excited, but I wouldn't be where I am without my assistant coaches and all of their help behind the scenes,” Odom said of winning Coach of the Year. “Coaching our girls is truly the best part of my day and I am excited that I get to share this with them."

Summer Creek’s Aspen Maxwell, signed to Missouri, was named the District 21-6A MVP. Maxwell led the Bulldogs with 450 kills and chipped in 156 digs and 58 blocks. Teammate Taylor Larkin, who signed to Harvard, was named the District 21-6A Defensive Player of the Year after registering a team-high 150 blocks and chipped in 220 kills. 

“We are incredibly proud of Aspen and Taylor for their well-deserved recognition as MVP and Defensive Player of the Year,” Summer Creek coach Sarah Aguilar said. “Their commitment to the sport, exceptional skills, and unwavering determination have been evident throughout the season. They have been instrumental in our team’s success, and their leadership on and off the court has been invaluable. These honors are a testament to their hard work and dedication, and we couldn’t be more thrilled for them.” 

Atascocita’s Rheanna Deen-Jackson earned the District 21-6A Offensive Player of the Year after tallying a team-leading 187 blocks, 268 kills and 106 digs. 

"I am so proud of Rhe and the way she has excelled this season,” Odom said. “As one of our captains, she is so deserving of this award because of her insane hitting percentage, the way we look to her to put the ball down in clutch moments, and her overall ability to score points. 

Atascocita freshman Jordan Morrow earned the District 21-6A Newcomer of the Year and for good reason. Morrow led the team with 336 kills and chipped in 343 digs. 

"Winning Newcomer of the Year was one of Jordan's goals at the beginning of the season and I had no doubt she could achieve it,” Odom said. “I can't wait to see her growth over the next few years, and I am so proud of her stepping up in the role she did as a freshman."

Kingwood’s Carly Thomas was named the District 21-6A Setter of the Year. The sophomore led the Mustangs with 553 assists, averaging 4.9 assists per set. 

“Carly is an outstanding young setter with a bright future ahead,” Kingwood coach Christie Mewis said. “She impressed us with her leadership skills as a sophomore and I have no doubt she will continue to have more success with each year that passes.”
