Humble ISD Barbering Academy students put their skills to the test at the 2023 Humble ISD Barber Battle held on November 16, 2023 at Humble High School.
The students got the chance to compete in four different categories during the event. First, second and third place awards were given for each category.
The Humble ISD Barbering Academy is in its second year. Barbering is a two-year course designed for students who would like to enter the field of Barbering. This is a state licensing program in cooperation with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Students must earn 1,000 hours in theory and practical applications in the laboratory provided.
Upon the satisfactory of the hours students are expected to take the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation State Board Exam to become certified as a Barber. All Humble ISD students may be transported to take the course. All students must obtain a permit from The Texas Department of License & Regulations. This is a one-time fee and must be obtained before hours are examined.
