Across the nation, athletic venues have implemented additional safety measures. Humble ISD is continuing its ongoing commitment to safety enhancements at Turner Stadium.
This school year, Humble ISD implemented a clear bag policy. Beginning Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024, Turner Stadium will have a weapon detection system at both the Home and Visitor entrances. Fans will walk through the system, which is called Evolv Express. Sensors detect concealed weapons, helping to direct police where needed without causing unnecessary delays. The district experienced a demo of the system at Turner Stadium in September. Because the demo went well, the system will now be a permanent feature at Turner Stadium.
This system is used in more than 750 major venues across the country, including places like Disneyland and Minute Maid Park.
Evolv Express has been carefully tested for safety and meets all the necessary government safety standards. The technology uses extremely low-frequency radio waves that are safe for everyone, including pregnant women and babies.
However, FDA guidelines for anti-theft and metal detection systems suggest that anyone with implantable or wearable medical devices, like pacemakers, talk to their doctor or the device manufacturer for specific information. Alternative screening can be provided in case of medical need.
